Hard Disk Drive - System Reformat, Re-install Operating System, Restore to Factory Default Settings - IMPORTANT Facts.
|
| |
If You have been advised that your computer system needs to undergo one of the above proceedures, there are a few things you need to know and be made aware of:
In the first instance EVERYTHING will be "wiped completely" from your computer. This will include all of your personal documents, photographs, music etc.
Of course, we will always offer to back up your personal documents first, before we begin the re-install, etc.
The thing to bear in mind is, we cannot save your programmes that you have installed on your computer since you have had it. All we can advise is that you ensure you keep your disks that contains your programmes, so that you can re-install them after you get the computer back again. Alternatively, where you bought the software online by way of an electronic download, you should ensure that you saved the installation file for the software and the paperwork that contains any usernames or passwords. These simple steps should easily enable you to re-install everything back as it was before your system was "wiped" and "restored" by us.
Why can`t we save and re-install your software for you?
Simply because, we don`t have your disks or "saved" installation files, in the case of your downloaded software. We could re-install the software for you, but this could be time consuming and would certainly have to be charged at extra cost, but we can do it if you really want us to.
The other reason why we can`t backup or save your installed programmes from your computer, is because files are installed all over the computer system, not only this, but when a programme is installed, it usually removes Windows files and replaces them with it`s own, saving (allegedly) the Windows files and offering to put them back when the software is uninstalled. This can be the reason why Windows crashes or becomes unstable, when a programme fails to put back the missing files.
So, don`t forget to ensure you keep the programmes you have purchased for the future, to ensure you can replace them when you get your newly re-installed computer back again.

Microsoft Office:
Please note that Microsoft Office IS NOT a part of Microsoft Windows. Confusion is being caused where people assume or believe the two programmes to be a part of each other, so to put the record straight, Microsoft Windows, any version, is the operating system on most computers, be they Pc`s, notebooks, netbooks or laptops. This is the main software (interface) that communicates with your computer hardware components and yourself and allows you to do what you want to do on your computer. Microsoft Office is a separate software incorporating such programmes as "Word" "Excel" "Powerpoint" "Publisher" etc, allowing you to create working type documents such as letters, spreadsheets, slide shows etc. Sometimes, a trial version of Office is supplied, but after a period of time, you are required to purchase a "Product Key" to register the software and continue to use it after the trial period. If you have a lawful copy of Office on your computer and the latter then has to be re-formatted, wiped, re-installed, then all software will be erased from your computer. You will then have to re-install it all over again. We cannot save installed programmes as they have their files loaded throughout Windows, so you will have to either do this yourself or bring your disks to us for us to do at extra cost. We do not deal in pirated (copied) versions of software, so please do not expect us to put it on your computer. Finally, Microsoft Office is sold separately, we can obtain a genuine copy for you if you require.

We are pleased to announce the introduction of our new "download links" page, which offers you what we believe, the best software available. Some software is either free, a free trial or available at a realistic price. All of it has been personally tested by ourselves. We can thoroughly recommend them all. * Please note: although the items listed here were found to work perfectly for us when we reviewed them, some are still working, we cannot guarantee they will work on all computers and systems. These are 3rd party websites and not in any way connected with Simply Computers. Please ensure you read carefully the details and literature on each site and check your own computer specification with the manufacturers. It is also highly recommended your system is in good working condition before attempting to install any new software and that you should download and trial the demo version to ensure satisfactory working conditions before purchasing the full version. Simply Computers cannot be held responsible either for 3rd party software, their websites/download links, manufacturers and failure to comply with these recommendations. We also receive no financial gain from any of these listed sites.
